Admission


UNDERGRADUATE ACADEMIC ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • For most undergraduate level programmes, the minimum academic entry requirement is successful completion of a qualification equivalent to the New Zealand Year 13 - NCEA Level 3 University Entrance. International students need to check the equivalency of their secondary school qualification by reviewing the list of Academic Admission Requirements by Country.
  • International students who have previously studied at a New Zealand secondary school should refer to the secondary school requirements section. 
  • International students who have completed a minimum of 4 x B’s at level 5 or 6 in the New Zealand Diploma in Business may apply for entry into a Bachelor’s programme.
    •  An NZQA transcript as formal evidence of the NZDipBus results is required before credit will be assessed and only papers with a minimum grade of B will be assessed for credit.
    • The English language requirements can be met by:
      • A minimum IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent) used to gain entry to the NZDipBus or,
      • A recent IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5
  • Graduate Diplomas
    Admission to a Graduate Diploma requires successful completion of a three year diploma or undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution.

POSTGRADUATE ACADEMIC ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Masters, postgraduate diplomas and postgraduate certificates. An appropriate undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution is required

Doctorate degrees (PhD) The equivalent or better of a relevant Bachelor's (Hons) or Master's Degree with First or Second Class Honours, Division 1 (B+ and above) with sufficient prior experience of independent research at postgraduate level 

Accommodation


At Massey University we know that choosing where you'll live is one of the most important concerns that you will have. They want to ensure that your accommodation is complementary to your studies. Auckland, Palmerston North and Wellington all have a variety of on-campus accommodation options, including Halls of Residence, Apartments, Studio Units and Homestays.

They also have experienced staff who can help you to find the right accommodation. Accommodation staff on our three campuses provide advice on everything from choosing Halls of Residence, information on private accommodation options, advice on signing tenancy agreements, dispute resolution, and budget management.

Massey University Wellington - Accommodation

Massey operates two Halls in Wellington: The Cube Hall and our new 2018 Hall (currently operating as 217 Taranaki). Both Halls are located in the heart of Wellington, across the street from each other and within walking distance to the campus, CBD, museums, restaurants and cafes. They have live-in residential staff to ensure that residents join a fun and safe community. Our team takes time to get to know all the residents and are there to give advice on how to get the best out of Hall life and studying at University. Staying in a hall of residence is a great way to meet other students and settle into life at Massey University within a safe and supportive environment.

Auckland Accommodation

The Auckland campus is located in Albany which is a short drive from the city lights and the downtown lifestyle of central Auckland, New Zealand's largest and most exciting city.The campus is surrounded by a wide range of amenities including numerous cafes, shopping centres, a cinema complex, libraries, extensive leisure and sport facilities including the QBE Sports Stadium. 

The region covers 120km of coastline and includes more than 30 sandy swimming beaches.

Massey University Auckland is able to offer on campus accommodation with a variety of options to choose from, which will allow you to be part of a student community, and experience residential life.  Alternatively a homestay option is also available which will allow you to live within a family environment

Massey University Manawatū - Accommodation Services

Massey Manawatū is one of the few campuses in New Zealand where all your daily needs are met in the one location. With beautiful grounds, Halls situated within a 5min walk from labs and lecture theatres, a state of the art Recreation Centre, Athletics Track, and Equestrian Centre all located on the one campus, we really do have it all. Furthermore, when you want to get off campus to go shopping or check out the night life, just grab your student ID and use the free bus service available to all our staff and students.

Massey Halls are all about giving you the best support during your uni years. Our halls have a dedicated team of pastoral care staff to help navigate your priorities, to connect with other residents, encourage you to join in events and activities. The Halls offer a safe, secure and student friendly environment to foster your academic success. We offer a Residential Life Programme to support community building, academic success and life skills. Our Residential Assistants and Managers live on site to ensure our residents have support 24/7

Massey University can arrange Homestay accommodation for those looking to live within a family environment. This is the mandatory option for all international students under 18.
